The bigger news is that an updated version of the book will be released this September. The new version will still be the original book but will be updated with additional references, citations and new content. Something I will very look forward to. If you want to receive updates or notifications of the revised and updated version of the book every Filipino should know and read, The Conjugal Dictatorship, please express your interest by signing up at ConjugalDictatorship.com.
About the book: The Conjugal Dictatorship of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos provides a detailed, first-hand account of the Marcos administration during the era of Martial Law. It was written by the only person Ferdinand Marcos trusted with open access to his personal chambers: press secretary and right-hand aid Primitivo "Tibo" Mijares. Unlike other books about the era, this book was written by a true insider who took no steps to "sugar-coat" the details, even those which resulted in his self-incrimination. You can read a free copy of it here.
The book has been out of print since 1986, and its involvement in the first EDSA revolution is undeniable. The only commercial copy which remains is the one you can find on Amazon. While they didn't change the text at all, the formatting makes the already newspaper-like work even harder to read. Make no mistake, Tibo was a newspaper writer first and wrote the book in the only way he knew how.
In any case, the new version will be edited, updated with new references and citations, and include more content. We'll revisit all sections of the old book and follow up with the parts of the book where there are still testimonies or, even better, people who are still around.
